Graduated from the Folkwang Hochschule in Germany. Phuong has worked at the acclaimed Arabesque Dance Company as one of the key choreographers, doing experimental works, collaborating with different artists from different disciplines, and founded the Open Stage Project. Phuong received the Best Choreography Award at KIMDC in Korea, grants and fellowships in many residencies in different places as at Cleveland Foundation, and Asia Cultural Council, American Dance Festival 2017. She started to focus on the relationship between native culture and contemporary culture, a bridge between traditional mind and/in contemporary life, researched and worked with the natives from the highlands with “Thoai” and Champa with “Palao”. At the moment she’s working on her own project “Through the door then” in collaboration with an ex-prisoner. She’s also the founder of MORUA Arts Project in Hoi An, a movable playground which doesn’t want to focus on the final works, but a focus space and time for choreographers/ performance & performing artists to develop their interdisciplinary works as well as to share their own method of body & movement.
