The Optic Trilogy: Play Reading presents a repositioning of the original text “The Optic Trilogy” by Singaporean playwright Alfian Sa’at. The process highlights cultural exchange among artists in Southeast Asia using dramatic tools for analysis, interpretation and reconstruction by a Singaporean playwright, a Thai director, and read by Thai and Filipino actors.
The play is divided into 3 parts, depicting 3 different relationships between men and women who are strangers: a tourist and an escort, a photographer and a blind model, and a couple who met on a social media app. The interactions of the three stories interweave through actions and dialogue, leading us to discover a more profound meaning of being human.
The Optic Trilogy: Play Reading เป็นการแสดงอ่านบทละครที่นำเสนอการจัดวางใหม่ในภาษาเดิมของบทละคร The Optic Trilogy โดยนักเขียนบทละครชาวสิงคโปร์ Alfian Sa’at กระบวนการทำงานเป็นกระบวนการแลกเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรม ระหว่างศิลปินในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ผ่านกระบวนทางละคร ที่ร่วมกันวิเคราะห์ ตีความ และเรียบเรียง โดยผู้เขียนบทละครชาวสิงค์โปร ผู้กำกับชาวไทย อ่านบทละครโดยนักแสดงชาวไทยและฟิลิปปินส์
เรื่องราวในบทละครแบ่งออกเป็นสามฉาก สามความสัมพันธ์ ระหว่างชายหญิงสามคู่ ที่แต่ละคู่ต่างเป็นคนแปลกหน้าต่อกัน ไม่ว่าจะเป็น นักท่องเที่ยวกับชายหนุ่มจากสมุดหน้าเหลือง ช่างภาพกับนางแบบที่ปราศจากดวงตา หรือชายหญิงที่นัดพบกับจากโลกบนอินเตอร์เน็ต บทประพันธ์ของทั้งสามคู่สัมพันธ์ ผ่านการกระทำและบทสนทนา พาเราไปสู่การค้นพบ ความเป็นมนุษย์ที่ลงลึกไปกว่ามนุษย์ที่เรารู้จัก
