Born in Iliomar in the Lautem district of Timor-Leste in 1981, Iliwatu Danabere is one of the first members of Arte Moris Free Art School and Cultural Center in Dili and has been its director since 2003. He oversees the daily running of Arte Moris and organizes local and international exhibitions. He has also participated in several Arte Moris exhibitions and programs, including Art Action at Charles Darwin University in Darwin, Australia (2004), the art exhibition for the International Human Rights Conference at Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland (2006), an art exhibition at the student gallery of UNSW College of Fine Arts (COFA) in Sydney Australia (2006), a SIGNAL program art workshop with the youths of Melbourne (2011), and Public Art Festival (Arte Publico) in Dili. Iliwatu continues to organize workshops and art events in Dili and around the country.
