Cambodian Living Arts
Sokhorn is a Head of Arts Development at Cambodian Living Arts, and has been working for the organization for more than 8 years. Since 2015, she has been instrumental in the transition of classes initiated and facilitated by CLA into independent cultural enterprises and regular community classes.
She is currently managing the Arts Development program, which is directly related to developing arts. This includes creating art and presenting it to the public through performance seasons, festivals, or workshops and training people who work in the arts.
She has previously been a Global Fellow of the International Society for Performing Arts and regularly represents Cambodian Living Arts at international festivals and forums, and performing arts markets.

Cambodian Living Arts’ (CLA) mission is to be a catalyst in a vibrant arts sector, inspiring new generations. Established in 1998, the organization’s original goal was to keep Cambodia’s endangered intangible cultural heritage alive by opening traditional performing arts classes across provinces in Cambodia.
As the context of Cambodia changed, and a new generation of artists began to emerge, CLA started offering scholarships, fellowships and professional development training, whilst creating job opportunities and encouraging cultural entrepreneurship. To support the transforming environment, CLA also engaged in cultural policy advocacy, supported the development of arts education in public schools and built new audiences for arts.
CLA’s programs aim to give artists the resources and opportunities to start telling stories of contemporary Cambodia. It’s really important that CLA’s works engage young Cambodians and enable them to tell their stories because acknowledging and respecting their intangible cultural heritage is one thing but interpreting it in their own words and meaning is another way to keep the arts alive. The arts is a living arts and thus must keep evolving with them, the future guardians of this intangible cultural heritage.
